Demonte’ Bolden was looking forward to returning to the Grey Cup.

And then his season ended on the BC Place turf, in a meaningless regular-season finale.

The Calgary Stampeders defensive tackle partially tore his MCL and, along with fellow injured tackle Micah Johnson, was forced to watch the CFL’s West Division final from the sideline.

“It was very hard on me,” Bolden said of having to watch his teammates self-destruct in a 35-13 loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders at McMahon Stadium.

“I thought we had a chance. And then I got hurt, and then Micah got hurt.

“That’s when my dreams went down the toilet.”

It was also about the time the Red & White’s dreams of a successful playoff run went down the drain.

With the middle of the Stamps line softened up, Riders running back Kory Sheets rumbled for 177 yards to end the Calgary club’s season before that hopeful trip to the Grey Cup.
