CALGARY - Spencer Wilson's progression has been slow and steady.

Now, the Calgary Stampeders are hoping he's ready to take the next step.

The 25-year-old product of the Calgary Colts junior program inked a contract extension with the club Friday, just two days after stalwart right guard Dimitri Tsoumpas announced his retirement, due to concussion issues.

Wilson is no stranger to plugging gaps, as the 6-foot-7, 310-pounder has made starts at both tackle spots in addition to inside at guard during his three CFL seasons.

After spending the majority of his rookie campaign on the practice roster in 2011, Wilson worked his way into an injury-ravaged offensive line rotation in '12, appearing in 10 games, before suiting up in 12 games at three different spots in '13.
