The fastest man on the field is back in the fold.

Whether Fred Bennett is actually the quickest — he’d certainly get an arguement from the likes of receiver Maurice Price — is open for debate.

But the Calgary Stampeders are happy to have the fleet-footed cornerback under contract.

Bennett, who has played the last two seasons with the Red & White, said winning a Grey Cup was his top priority and a big reason why he decided to stay in Calgary.

“The Stampeders are a first-class organization and I’m happy to be staying,” Bennett said. “I’m still looking for the first ring of my football career and I believe we’re very close to a championship.

“I’m looking forward to the new season and to finishing the job.

“I truly believe that Calgary is the right place for me.”

The 30-year-old was one of the few Stampeders who started all 18 regular-season games in 2013. He hasn’t missed a game during his time with the Stamps.
