Slowly but surely, John Hufnagel is piecing his secondary back together.

The Calgary Stampeders GM/head coach went to work Thursday, signing versatile defensive back Jamar Wall to a new contract, which will keep him off the free-agent market and in the fold through the 2016 CFL season.

The pact is a two-year deal, plus an option for a third season.

Wall, who turned 26 earlier this month, tied cornerback Chris Randle for the team lead with four interceptions last season, despite oblique and knee injuries hampering him for much of the season and forcing him to miss six games.

He underwent arthroscopic surgery on the knee malady following the campaign, but he will be full-go heading into training camp.

The Texas Tech University product’s decision to return was an easy one, and he’s looking forward to working with Stamps new defensive co-ordinator Rich Stubler, who introduced himself to the players via e-mail this week.
