CALGARY - As talented as Dave Dickenson was as a player and is as a coach, perhaps his greatest virtue is his honesty.

He honestly didn’t want to leave a great situation in Calgary.

So despite plenty of interest from other organizations, he decided to stay put, signing a three-year extension with the Stampeders to add assistant head coach duties to his role as offensive co-ordinator.

“I didn’t allow any offers — people did call but I politely said I wasn’t interested,” said the 40-year-old Montanan.

“I talked to (GM/head coach John Hufnagel) and said I wanted to work things out here. He needed to know if I was going to look hard elsewhere and I really wanted to be honest. This is a city I love, it’s close to Montana and family is here and there are so many positives."
