Last year, Jon Cornish looked on as Toronto Argonauts all-purpose threat Chad Owens walked away with the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player Award.

There won’t be any disappointment this time around.

The Calgary Stampeders tailback is the front-runner for the 2013 MOP, and really, it isn’t even close.

(Cue the wrath of Riders Nation).

In a wild and wacky CFL season, Jon Cornish has been the constant.

Much has been made of the quarterback carousel and the number of first-time starters taking snaps around the league.

It’s working in Cornish’s favour.

Combine Ricky Ray and Zach Collaros and you have a great MOP candidate. But you can’t. This isn’t the William M. Jennings Trophy.

Forget about candidates from Montreal, Edmonton or Winnipeg.

B.C. Lions quarterback Travis Lulay has been hurt and the Leos underachieved even with the rockin’ redhead under centre.

That leaves Cornish, the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ Kory Sheets
