CALGARY - The days of receivers auditioning for a starting job on a weekly basis are gone.

The Calgary Stampeders receiving corps is returning to health.

Veteran slotback Nik Lewis is gone for the season, and there’s no timetable for wideout Johnny Forzani’s return.

But the Stamps did have Joe West, fresh off the nine-game injured list, and Chris Bauman, in pads for the first time since Day 3 of training camp, back on the field Tuesday.

Quarterback Kevin Glenn said it’s always nice to have familiar weapons back in the huddle.

“We’ve been a little thin at the receivers spot,” Glenn said. “Everybody knows that.

“To get those guys back and to get back in a groove throwing the ball to them, it’ll be good.”

Bauman broke his wrist early in camp and said the recovery process was difficult.

“I’ve never broken anything before,” he said. “It was frustrating.

“But there’s nothing you can do. You can’t make it heal any faster."
