The importance of character is tough to get a handle on.

When teams are winning, the word character is usually bandied about in a positive light.

When teams are losing, lack of character is pointed to by media and fans.

It’s impossible to objectively quantify.

During the Calgary Stampeders’ 35-14 win over the Toronto Argonauts on Friday at the Rogers Centre, however, the character of John Hufnagel’s football club was on display.

And it all starts with Kevin Glenn.

“It says a lot about our character, guys stepping up and getting their opportunity and then taking advantage of it,” said Glenn, who didn’t retreat into the trainer’s room or refrain from talking to the media after taking a hit to the head and leaving the game in the fourth quarter. “It also says a lot about the coaching staff.
