Jon Cornish is the reigning rushing champion.

And he’s not interested in just handing over the crown.

If Saskatchewan Roughriders running back Kory Sheets thinks he’s taking it away, he’s going to have a fight on his hands.

Cornish rumbled for 175 yards and a quartet of touchdowns as the Stamps beat the Riders 42-27 Friday at McMahon Stadium.

With the victory, the Stamps draw even with the Roughriders atop the West Division with identical 5-1 records.

Cornish chewed up yardage like competitive eating champion Joey Chestnut disposed of fish tacos during the halftime show.

He had 115 yards and three majors before Chestnut even made his appearance.

Sheets turned it up in the second half and finished with 133 yards, but didn’t find the endzone and commited a crucial fumble.

Chris Getzlaf scored a pair of touchdowns for the Riders who were denied a 6-0 start for just the second time in franchise history.
