CALGARY - Star power and storylines are always in stock when it comes to the 2013 version of the Calgary Stampeders.

There's a brewing quarterback controversy that isn't yet controversial.

There's offensive co-ordinator Dave Dickenson's head coaching candidacy, which is sure to crop up the minute the season ends, if not sooner.

There's also Nik Lewis, who's always good for a headline or two throughout the summer.

But ever-so-quietly, kicker Rene Paredes and tailback Jon Cornish are just going about their business, making kicks and churning out yards, giving the coaching staff and whomever happens to be calling the shots under centre that night supreme confidence that when the ball isn't in their hands, it's in good hands.

Paredes simply doesn't miss kicks.

Surpassing Paul McCallum's mark of 30 straight field goals made last week in Winnipeg was just the start.
