WINNIPEG - Expectations were high for Bo Levi Mitchell.

But even his own mom couldn’t have hoped for a starting debut like this.

The young quarterback painted a masterpiece in his first pro start, leading the Calgary Stampeders to a 37-24 victory over the Blue Bombers in Winnipeg.

Mitchell completed 29 of 33 passes for 376 yards and a trio of touchdowns — to Greg Carr, Anthony Parker and Marquay McDaniel.

Stamps kicker Rene Paredes had a record-setting night, but only managed a small piece of the spotlight.

Paredes kicked five field goals, establishing a new CFL record for the most successful boots without a miss.

Paredes’ streak sits at 34 and counting, knocking B.C. Lions veteran Paul McCallum’s old mark of 30 into second place in the record book.
