The list of players nursing bumps and bruises on the defensive side of the ball is a long one.

Linebacker Malik Jackson, defensive end Charleston Hughes and defensive end Ben D’Aguilar all sat out Tuesday to nurse various ailments that Hufnagel didn’t want to elaborate on, while cornerback Derrius Brooks has a leg injury that kept him on the sidelines.

Defensive tackle Micah Johnson will also be out for an “extended period” with a torn oblique muscle and will be replaced on the active roster by Kevin Huntley.

Right tackle Dan Federkeil left practice early and was replaced by J’Micheal Deane. Hufnagel said Federkeil was sick.

While Hufnagel didn’t rule anyone out, he knows there will be some roster manipulation in his future.

“I’m going to make that decision when I go upstairs and look at the whole big picture,” Hufnagel said.
