Stamps ink four linemen for defence

John Hufnagel has talked about adding defensive depth.

The Calgary Stampeders GM/head coach did just that Monday afternoon.

The Red & White have added four import defensive linemen — Markell Carter, Wayne Dorsey, Elisha Joseph and Alex Watkins — to the fold.

The Stampeders also released veteran offensive lineman Obby Khan, who came out of retirement to join the team midway through last season after a rash of injuries depleted the line.

Watkins, a 23-year-old Tennessee product, won an NCAA national championship with Alabama in 2011 before signing as an undrafted free agent with the NFL’s Tennessee Titans. He also saw extensive duty on special teams with the champion Crimson Tide.

Carter, a 23-year-old Oklahoma native, spent last season on the New England Patriots’ practice roster. The 6-foot-4, 248-pounder was a sixth-round pick of the Patriots in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Central Arkansas.

  It's awful
  Guess it works
Meh, I don't follow the CFL
  Best name yet
