McDaniel inks deal with Stamps

The news on Thursday should come as no surprise to anyone who bumped into Marquay McDaniel over the past two months around Calgary.

 

The Calgary Stampeders receiver will be hanging around town for a couple more years after signing a contract extension. For the past couple of months, the 28-year-old native of West Virginia has just been hanging around Calgary.

At home in Virginia Beach, there is sand and sunshine. Here in Calgary, it’s been snowstorms and chinooks.

He chose the latter.

“I had a good time during the season,” McDaniel said. “I met some people here. A couple of players stayed here, so I’ve hung out with them. I’m in no rush to go back.

“Everybody keeps talking about the snow and the cold. At least we don’t have to practise in it. You actually get used to it. It’s not so bad like when October hits.”

McDaniel had a breakout season with the Stamps in 2012 after making the team out of training camp and replacing veteran Ken-Yo
