VANCOUVER — Juwan Simpson did everything he could Saturday afternoon to show he’s capable of suiting up in the West final.
When the Calgary Stampeders arrived in Vancouver, the starting middle linebacker took off the boot from around his ankle and hit the field with teammates at B.C. Place.
While fully taped up, Simpson was put through running drills by trainer Pat Clayton and gave the thumbs-up to onlookers.
Now Simpson will have to convince Stamps GM/head coach John Hufnagel he can go an entire game with the injury.
“Probably a game-day decision,” Hufnagel said of Simpson’s status. “He felt better today, so I did get some positive news. We’ll evaluate it in the morning.”

If Simpson does dress for the Stamps, he will have to play the entire contest regardless of his injury, which makes the decision tougher for Hufnagel.
Due to ratio constrictions, backup middle linebacker Deron Mayo wouldn’t dress unless he’s filling in for Simpson.
