Stampeders RB Jon Cornish almost stripped

CALGARY - The Saskatchewan Roughriders nearly stripped Jon Cornish.
And not of the ball, either.
The Calgary Stampeders running back had his trousers pulled down on back-to-back plays in the third quarter of Sunday's 36-30 victory in the West semifinal at McMahon Stadium.
He also got 'pantsed' by the Riders earlier in the season.
Perhaps he needs a tighter belt.
"In this case, my pants were done up really well," Cornish insisted. "They had the perfect opportunity to get their hand in there. I was fighting for yards, so the pants just came down."
Cornish found himself in hot water earlier in the season for mooning the crowd in Regina.
He didn't make any new fans in Riderville after Sunday's punishing 109-yard rushing effort.
His longest run was a 29-yard scamper with a second remaining in the opening half that set up a 50-yard Rene Paredes field goal.
Cornish, who was often forced to move the pile in Sunday's game, said it was fortunate he got tackled when he did.
"I didn't really know what the clock was saying," Cornish said. "When I saw there was a second left, I knew Rene was going to get on the field and kick the ball."
The West Division nominee for both Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Canadian said beating the Riders at home in a playoff game was everything he thought it would be.
"Incredible," Cornish said. "I don't want to say I knew it was going to happen, but we had the best week of practice this year, maybe the best week of practice since I’ve been a Stampeder.
"I had little doubt we would come through."
