CALGARY - The Calgary Stampeders added some more pieces to the puzzle Monday with the signing of three imports, including CFL veteran Joe Lobendahn.
The 5-foot-11, 235 lb. Lobendahn, a Hawaiian-born linebacker, heads west after four years with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
“Joe Lobendahn was one of the league’s best linebackers last season until he suffered his knee injury,” Stampeders head coach and GM John Hufnagel said about Monday's signing.
The Bombers' starting middle linebacker last season, Lobendahn suffered the injury Sept. 11. It put an early end to his 2011 campaign, one which saw him record 32 tackles in nine games.
Hugnagel said he believes the 29-year-old is recovered and ready to go full tilt again.
“Joe has passed our club physical and we’re confident he is healthy and will be a force at our upcoming training camp.”
The Stampeders also announced the signings of offensive lineman Na’Shan Goddard and running back Bryson Tucker.
As per team policy, terms of the agreements are not being released.
