As Joffrey Reynolds walked off the field, the chants of "M-V-P" started on one side of McMahon Stadium and picked up on the other.

Message was sent, loud and clear.

Now the CFL's West Division nominee for most outstanding player is one step closer to having his teammates preparing for a game the week of the awards.

Reynolds ran for 127 yards on 18 carries, including a 27-yarder in the final seconds to kill the clock as the Stamps beat the Edmonton Eskimos 24-21 in the West semifinal.

Even with another 162 yards from scrimmage and the game ball, Reynolds was quick to talk about those hoggies making holes for him.

"This has been a dream season for me, but I won't take all the credit," Reynolds said. "The offensive line today was great.

"Tim O'Neill stepped in for Rob Lazeo (the centre who left with a knee injury). We had (left guard) Jesse Newman in playing already. We were doing it with a bunch of different players.

"The guys had the will to win. Any time you are on a team and you see that, you want to give your best."

Lazeo left before half-time, and that forced O'Neill into action. The second-year Stamp was a reserve with a turf toe injury and that's why Newman took all the snaps at left guard.

"I didn't feel it until I was walking off the field," O'Neill said. "Now my toe feels like (Fred Flinstone's) how it's throbbing.

"It's just pain. They put a metal plate under it so it doesn't bend back.

"When you tell people you have a toe injury, people aren't impressed. It's a hyper-extension of the joint."

The Stamps offence piled up 190 rushing yards even without fullback Teyo Johnson, who missed the game after being stabbed at a rave Thursday night.

"What can you say about Joff?" said right tackle Jeff Pilon.

"That guy is a freak.

"When Rob got hurt and Tim stepped in there, great, we didn't miss a beat. He's a solid player and he's playing through injuries right now.

"It's a real testament to his abilities and what this offence is all about."
