Despite an astounding number of dropped passes last week, the Calgary Stampeders receiving corps hasn't taken a hit to its collective self-esteem. At least that's the view of newcomer Arjei Franklin.
The Canadian receiver had three full practices with his new team since coming over in a trade Sunday from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and he's ready to join a group that has shaken off a loss last week in Hamilton.
"I got a feeling that this team is confident in what they do," Franklin said ahead of his debut tonight against the B.C. Lions (8 p.m., TSN).
"They say we do what we do and we're going to challenge you to stop us."
Franklin hasn't played in a game since Week 2 against the Stampeders when he suffered an ankle injury. But the Bombers put the four-year veteran on the nine-game injured reserve, keeping him out of action until this week.
Huf tips hat to Buono
John Hufnagel opened his pre-game news conference yesterday by congratulating Wally Buono on breaking the all-time coaching wins record.
"The entire coaching fraternity recognizes and admires his amazing feat," Hufnagel said.
