As far as the offensive line goes, the Calgary Stampeders' 2008 draft class has already been a bumper crop.

Just imagine if left guard Jon Gott can join first-rounders Dimitri Tsoumpas and Jesse Newman on the front lines.

Gott, the Stamps' fifth-round selection in last year's prospect grab, is trying to earn a full-time job after a stellar senior season at Boise State University.

Tsoumpas and Newman, meanwhile, already have one year of pro experience -- and a Grey Cup title -- to their credit.

"They're both good players. I see Tsoumpas and he's a strong guy and is playing well, and Newman, I've seen him play and he's pretty good, too," Gott said. "I'll be looking to them to try to get my game up to how they play."

After a major overhaul in 2008, the Stamps' offensive line has remained intact. All five starters from last year's Grey Cup -- Tsoumpas, Newman, Rob Lazeo, Jeff Pilon and Ben Archibald -- are still in the fold.

If Gott, a former high school standout with the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Rams, can crack the roster, you can bet he'll have plenty of supporters in the stands at the season-opener. "I'll get them tickets," Gott said. "Just have to make the team first."
