CALGARY STAMPEDERS (2-2) 33

TORONTO ARGONAUTS (2-2) 10

THREE STARS

1. Stamps SB Jeremaine Copeland -- Caught five passes for a game-high 114 yards.

2. Stamps QB Henry Burris -- Managed the offence well, didn't turn the ball over and hit the 300-yard mark in passing.

3. Stamps KR Markus Howell -- Brought a missed field goal out 47 yards while averaging 9.1 yards on eight punt returns.

WHY THE STAMPS WON

Simple. They didn't turn the ball over and the defence shut down the Argonauts pass attack with the erratic Mike McMahon, who made his first CFL start at quarterback.

GREAT CATCH

Stamps SB Jeremaine Copeland ran in behind coverage to haul in bomb from Henry Burris. Copeland, easily Calgary's busiest receiver, neatly tucked the football after it came over his shoulder.

HUGE HIT

Stamps DB Brandon Browner read a pass perfectly and drilled John Williams just after the Argos running back brought in the pigskin. Browner threw all of his lanky 6-ft.-4. frame into his shoulder and slammed Williams in the chest.

KEY STAT

4 -- The number of two- and-out series the Stampeders defence held the Argonauts to until the six-minute mark of the second quarter.

NOTABLES

Stamps SB Marc Boerigter's impressive 70-yard touchdown reception was his first this season and first since returning to the CFL after five years away in the NFL ... The announced attendance last night was 28,202, shy of the 35,000 ... Stamps LT Garrick Jones left after reinjuring his right arm ... Stamps LB Scott Coe's fumble recovery was his first of the season.

UP NEXT

The hated B.C. Lions roll into McMahon Stadium, where they play pretty well, Saturday, 5 p.m., CBC.
