TORONTO ARGONAUTS (2-1) 48

CALGARY STAMPEDERS (1-2) 15

THREE STARS

1. Argos QB Michael Bishop -- Threw three first-half touchdowns to build a 27-0 lead before leaving with what looked like a wrist injury. Went 18-of-23 for 273 yards but with two interceptions.

2. Argos S Orlondo Steinauer -- Picked off three passes to tie a career high he set in 1998.

3. Argos LB Michael Fletcher -- Tipped a Henry Burris pass that was picked off and blocked a Burke Dales punt.

WHY THE STAMPS LOST

Too many little errors, likely from fatigue of having played four days earlier, cost them a chance at keeping it close early. They turned the ball over six times in the first half and were out of it. The Argos just piled on the points in the second half.

CATCH OF THE GAME

Argos QB Michael Bishop zipped a long pass to Tony Miles and the veteran Argos receiver stretched out to haul in a beautiful 26-yard touchdown.

HIT OF THE GAME

Argos running back Jamel White was hustling towards a first down and was wrapped up by Stamps LB Shannon James when safety Trey Young showed up. Young slammed his shoulder so hard into White's chest so hard the ball came loose for Terrence Patrick to recover.

KEY STAT

6 -- First-half turnovers by the Stamps, including three interceptions by backup QB Akili Smith.

NOTABLES

Argos RB Jeff Johnson's third-quarter touchdown from one yard out was Toronto's first rushing touchdown of the season ... The announced attendance at Rogers Centre was 29,304 ... Argos QB Mike McMahon threw his first CFL touchdown pass when he hooked up with Derrell Mitchell.
