RETURNEES:

Wes Lysack, Coby Rhinehart, Trey Young, Jermaine Chatman, Crance Clemons, Brandon Haw, Sadrick Williams, J.R. Ruffin.

THE DEPARTED:

Pascal Masson, Tony Tiller.

NEW ARRIVALS:

Free agents Rodney McCarter, Brandon Stewart, Adrian Ward, Rob Andrews, Brandon Browner, Marques Binns, Raphael Osei.

THE SKINNY:

These could be the toughest positions on defence for which to replace a returning starter. The Stamps would like to add some larger bodies and play more physical in man-to-man situations but they are solid in zone. Because there were so many returning vets, the newcomers are all taller than the average CFL defensive backs. Still, the newcomers would have to display equal or better speed, athleticism and grasp of the system in order to win a starting job.

THE FAVOURITES:

Expect Chatman, Ruffin, Rhinehart and Williams to resume there starting spots, while Lysack could start at safety over Young if the team needs a Canadian on defence. Clemons is the nickel back and could be a force because he is healthy this season.

THE SLEEPERS:

Both Browner and Stewart are well over 6 ft. and offer a different body type than the rest.

But Andrews is interesting in that he's a converted receiver with plenty of athletic ability but still raw learning the position.
