ROUGHRIDERS 30 STAMPEDERS 21

SUN THREE STARS

1. Roughriders RB Kenton Keith -- Found a huge hole and flew through it for a 74-yard touchdown run on the first offensive play of the second half. Also ran in a 14-yard TD and finished with 141 yards on 16 carries.

2. Stamps returner Markus Howell -- Scored on a 57-yard punt return in the second quarter and also had a 40-yarder that set up another touchdown.

3. Roughriders DB James Johnson -- Picked off Stamps QB Henry Burris twice, including the final play in the endzone.

WHY THE STAMPS LOST

They constantly turned the ball over after telling themselves all season making those mistakes would be their downfall. The home side finished with seven turnovers, including five from QB Henry Burris.

GREAT CATCH

Roughriders SB Yo Murphy stretched out to haul in a pass from Kerry Joseph along the sidelines to make a first down.

KEY STAT

7 -- The number of turnovers the Stampeders committed, which was one more than last year when they blew a 14-point lead against the Eskimos in the West semifinal.

HUGE HITS

Roughriders LB Reggie Hunt drilled Wes Cates as the ball went past him for an incompletion. 'Riders LB Maurice Lloyd had a full head of steam and drove into Markus Howell hard on a punt return just as Howell secured the ball.

NOTABLES

Markus Howell's punt return TD was the first by a Stampeder since Wane McGarity did it July 26, 2003, against the Toronto Argonauts ... The Stamps' scratches were LB John Grace, LB Cornelius Anthony, DB Brandon Haw and DL Miguel Robede ... The Roughriders scratches off the 46-man roster were LB T.J. Stancil, RB Shermar Bracey, DL Tim Fleiszer and OL Matt O'Meara.

UP NEXT
