It took a while but Brian Clark is finally getting recognized for his work as the anchor of the Calgary Stampeders defence.

The veteran linebacker was named one of seven West Division all-stars from the CFL club and the award was probably long overdue.

While John Grace picked up back-to-back West Division defensive player of the year awards, Stampeders coaches kept talking about how Clark was the team's best player on that side of the ball.

"You always want to be recognized for your play," said Clark.

"It's my turn this year. I don't think my stats are better than last year but for whatever reason I was recognized."

The other Stamps all-stars are running back Joffrey Reynolds, receiver Nik Lewis, guard Jay McNeil, cornerback Coby Rhinehart, placekicker Sandro DeAngelis and punter Burke Dales.
