STAMPEDERS 32 LIONS 25
SUN THREE STARS
1. Stamps WR Ken-Yon Rambo -- Made great moves after taking a short pass from Henry Burris and went 46 yards for the touchdown. Finished with four catches for 80 yards, plus an 11-yard reverse.
2. Stamps RB Joffrey Reynolds -- Scored on a 10-yard run in the second quarter to a cap a drive where he was the main weapon. Finished with 92 yards on 18 carries and another 27 on three catches.
3. Stamps LB Khalid Abdullah -- Pressured the quarterbacks well and finished with a sack, five tackles and two knockdowns.
WHY THE STAMPS WON:
They replied to the beating the Lions gave them a week ago by putting together long drives through the middle quarters and tightening up on defence. Calgary also staved off a comeback attempt by holding its composure in the final minutes.
Lions WR Kendrick Jones made a nice adjustment on a ball tipped at the line of scrimmage by the Stampeders. Two Stamps defenders had a bead on it before Jones reached out with one hand and hauled in the pass for a 42-yard gain.
Stamps DB Crance Clemons met Lions RB Joe Smith moments after the burly back caught an outlet pass. Clemons drove into Smith's hip with his shoulder to bring down the much larger player short of the first down. On a huge punt return in the third quarter, Stamps SB Nik Lewis caught Lions DB Sebastian Clovis looking at returner Markus Howell and drilled him to the turf with a perfect block.
58 -- The amount of total rushing yards the Lions managed to accumulate as the Stamps limited the B.C. offensive attack.
Stamps K Sandro DeAngelis kicked a 38-yard field goal in the third quarter to tie Mark McLoughlin's single-season record for the franchise. With one more field goal, DeAngelis would surpass the record of 54 in a season.
