Injuries and inferior play have pushed the Stampeders to look at roster moves for Sunday's rematch with the B.C. Lions at McMahon (2 p.m.).

Defensive back Shannon James has been taking reps on defence and might be activated at outside linebacker.

James spent time in the Baltimore Ravens camp earlier this year before signing with Calgary a month ago.

"I'm not nervous, just excited to get a chance to show what I can do," said James.

The 5-ft. 9-in. 205-lb., James is a University of Massachusetts product who was a first-team All-American as a defensive back. James is the all-time leader in interceptions at UMass with 20 career picks.

"We didn't tackle well in open space and that's what caused this," said Stamps defensive co-ordinator Denny Creehan.

"I like him athletically and he can certainly cover."

A knee injury to nose tackle Sheldon Napastuk will force Creehan to move veteran end Demetrious Maxie inside to rotate with Randy Chevrier.

switching teams:

The Stampeders claim they aren't concerned by the Lions signing of free agent LB George White, released by the Stamps six weeks ago.

Head coach Tom Higgins said he and Lions boss Wally Buono know each other so well, having a former player in the opponent's camp is hardly a concern.

"Wally and I have been in each other's meeting room way too many times that I could probably tell you what he tells his team before going out," Higgins said.
