After missing six games with damaged knee ligaments, David Allen will be back in the Calgary Stampeders lineup this week.

"That seems like the plan. The knee feels good and I'm ready to roll," said Allen, who was injured in the season opener June 17.

Allen is expected to add a new dimension to the backfield along with starting tailback Joffrey Reynolds, while also providing a dangerous addition to kickoff and punt returns.

For the past six weeks, Allen has been running the stairs at McMahon Stadium while his teammates were running plays on the field.

He might have been able to play last week but the team was cautious to not bring the former NFLer back too soon.

POINTS AFTER: Stamps GM Jim Barker said the team is "very close" to an extension with PK Sandro DeAngelis but a contract has not yet been sent to the league office ... S Trey Young (knee) is also expected to play ... WR Scotty Anderson has been released ... Head coach Tom Higgins said there were "serious repercussions" for Terrence Patrick's unnecessary roughness penalty on an extra point in Regina but would not provide details.
