Special player just like Mike

In more than 20 years coaching in the CFL, offensive co-ordinator Steve Buratto has seen plenty of tailbacks.

It's with his two decades of experience -- including a couple of seasons with all-time rushing leader Mike Pringle in Baltimore in 1994-95 -- he feels Joffrey Reynolds is a special find.

"He runs just like Pringle did -- lower body strength," Buratto points out.

"He's really compact, which gives him a lot of body mass, but his strength is in his legs and that's the way Mike was," he added. "The first guy rarely got him down but when he got in the open he could take it downfield."

Head coach Tom Higgins likes the analogy but is careful not to push his star back into living up to those great expectations after just one full season.

"He's similar but he's probably a little quicker than Mike," says Higgins, who coached Pringle in Edmonton in 2004, his final CFL season.

"You're putting him in elite company but he has to put some years together now.

"When he starts putting those years together he can be put in that elite category.

"He has everything that it takes to be an outstanding running back and have a great career."
