When the whistle sounds for the opening kickoff tomorrow at McMahon Stadium, it will mark the start of the biggest game for the Stampeder organization since the 2001 Grey Cup.
However, before the Stamps advanced to the championship game that year the club needed to win its final game of the regular season in Winnipeg against the mighty 14-3 Bombers.
And four years later, it's a game Brian Clark still thinks about.
"Every day," said Clark, who was a linebacker with Winnipeg.
"That is a huge blemish on the Blue Bombers' record that year."
On the strength of five Mark McLoughlin field goals, the Stamps stunned the Bombers 22-15.
Three weeks later the Stamps beat the Bombers in the Grey Cup.
"The feeling we got from everybody, including the media, was the Grey Cup game isn't going to be close," said Calgary OL Jay McNeil.
"To go back and beat them again was really sweet."
The Stamps are hoping for another sweet set of playoff memories this year.
