EDMONTON -- Smilin' Hank has an extra wide grin the past few days.

The Calgary Stampeders quarterback just found out his wife, Nicole, is expecting the couple's first child in April.

"It's exciting," Burris said. "She's very excited. I'm like a kid in a candy store when I go home now.

"I'm trying to do whatever I can for her to make it as comfortable as possible for her. If she wants something outrageous, I'll run and get it.

"She's doing great but the first three months are tough."

When Burris signed with the Stamps in February, one of the first things he talked about was about putting down roots in Calgary.

"Things obviously happen for a reason and we feel really blessed," said the 30-year-old from Spiro, Okla. "It will keep us here for a long time. It's not an accident. Calgary is a place we were interested in living for a long time.

"There's a reason things happen the way they do. We'll be installing our roots here. We will probably do the rounds back home for the holidays but we'll definitely come here to have the baby."

Henry and Nicole met in college at Temple University in Philadelphia and have long been planning to have a family.

And Henry has been preparing lately, asking other Stamps about fatherhood.

"It's a good change in your life," Burris said.
