HOW THE DEVIL ARE YOU?

Fine. How the devil am I? You caught me off guard with that one.

IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT AND YOU AREN'T PLAYING. WHATCHA GONNA DO?

A regular Saturday night, I'll have a couple of gin martinis with Beefeater. This week, I'm watching Toronto and B.C.

PICK FIVE WORDS TO DESCRIBE YOURSELF.

Evil, mean. No, I'm just kidding. Confident ... Happily married.

WHAT WERE YOU LIKE IN HIGH SCHOOL?

Actually, have you ever seen Beauty and the Geek? I was the geek. I was a good high school player, president of the student senate and in the top portion in grade-point average. I worked hard and I was never a person to hang out with the crowd. I had to make my own parties.

WHAT'S YOUR POISON?

Gin, that's my weakness. Also sweets. I love cakes.

WHAT'S YOUR CELLPHONE RINGTONE?

When I got married, I had no more cellphone privileges. Those are my wife's now.

WHO'S THE MOST FAMOUS PERSON IN YOUR CELLPHONE ADDRESS BOOK?

I know a lot of athletes, guys like Priest Holmes. But Brett Favre has to be the biggest.

WHAT'S THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING YOU'VE EVER BOUGHT?

The Firm CD. You've heard of Nas. It's a rap CD with him on it. It's really bad.

WHAT'S THE BEST ADVICE YOU EVER RECEIVED?

From my brother-in-law Adrian Cooper, who played in the NFL for seven years. He told me in college, 'Always remember it's not where you start, it's where you finish. Put hard work in between those things.'

WHAT CAR REPAIRS COULD YOU PERFORM ?

I could change the oil, change the muffler, things like that. It costs too much for manual labour.

WHAT'S YOUR CULINARY SPECIALTY?

You name it, I can make it. I have a couple things I make that are great. I make great sushi, great tempura. I feel I make a great Vietnamese dish. I have great soul food. Fish is the best I can make, along with fried chicken. My wife doesn't eat fish. So if I get mad at her, I cook fish. Take that, lady.

WHAT TV SERIES DO YOU WANT ON DVD?

24, the first season.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE UNHEALTHY FOOD?

My fried chicken.

WHERE DO YOU WANNA HOLIDAY?

I want to go backpacking through Spain and Italy again. We went on a cruise through the Mediterranean a few years ago. The next time, I want to go by train and backpack.

WHAT'S THE BEST CONCERT YOU'VE SEEN?

George Vincent in Chicago in 2002. Oprah Winfrey and people like that were there. It was at a black-owned publishing company. They had a big fundraiser and one of the big companies downtown sponsored me to go (as quarterback of the Bears).

IF YOU WEREN'T A FOOTBALL PLAYER, WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING?

Broadcasting. Sports broadcasting. I enjoy being around sports and talking.

WHAT TRAIT DO YOU ADMIRE MOST IN PEOPLE?

Sense of humour. Focusability ... that really isn't a word is it?

WHAT WAS THE BEST YEAR OF YOUR LIFE?

Last year until now. I got married May 1, 2004. I had a great season last year.

YOU HAVE A FEW HOURS TO KILL ... ?

I'll work on the screenplay I'm writing.

WHAT'S YOUR WORST HABIT?

Getting sidetracked. The things I intend to do, I get sidetracked and I end up doing something else.

WHAT WAS THE LAST MOVIE YOU CRIED TO?

The replay of the Western final (in 2004, when Burris' Roughriders lost to the B.C. Lions in overtime). Every time I see that, I cry.

ANY SUPERSTITIONS?

I need a Cafe Americano on game day. I have steak and eggs or chicken and eggs before the game. I have to eat half a Snickers before the first half and save the second half for halftime. Those are just rituals, though, not superstitions.

UGLIEST THING IN YOUR WARDROBE?

All my clothes look better than me.

COULD YOU BE CONVINCED TO KARAOKE AND, IF SO, WHAT'S YOUR SONG?

Anything jazz. Spyrogira. Al Jarreau. Maybe Whitney Houston (croons), 'I will alwaaaaays loooove youuuuu!'
