Angus Reid staying with Lions
By QMI Agency

All-star centre Angus Reid signed a contract extension with the B.C. Lions Tuesday.

Reid, a 12-year veteran who hit the 200-game mark last season, is a three-time West Division all-star. The Lions gave up a league-low 30 sacks in 2012.

"After careful consideration following last season, I believe there is still some very good football left in me," Reid said on the CFL website. "I am as excited as ever at the prospect of competing for a championship and I believe we have everything in place to do that next season."

The Lions also re-signed defensive back Ryan Phillips, a 2012 all-star. Phillips, who has played eight seasons in the CFL and holds the longest active consecutive-game played streak, at 144, had four interceptions last year.
