Lion is on the Hunt for Lemon
By HOSEA CHEUNG, QMI Agency

VANCOUVER - Toronto Argonauts quarterback Cleo Lemon is expected to join a long list of victims on the sarcasm honour roll this week, courtesy of B.C. Lions' Aaron Hunt.

The Leos’ defensive tackle doesn’t just trash-talk on the field -- which he admits he loves and is what “motivates” him -- he also attempts to congratulate opponents after they commit an error with a high-five.

His recent targets include Saskatchewan Roughriders kicker Eddie Johnson following a missed field goal attempt and Edmonton Eskimos quarterback Ricky Ray after an incomplete pass.

It’s partly strategy, and partly for fun, said Hunt.

“It helps me make them more aggravated than they already are,” he said with a chuckle. “I’m going to let them know I appreciate what they did. It’s funny to me so I’m going to keep doing it.”

The best part for Hunt, however, is the fact that he can justify his words and actions.

Following his three sack performance against the Eskimos earlier this month, Hunt was named the CFL defensive player for Week 8. This season, he’s tied for second overall in the league with six quarterback sacks.

“You got to be able to back up your trash talk and I feel like I do,” he said.

As for the Argonauts, Hunt is specifically looking forward to chirping left tackle Rob Murphy, centre Dominic Picard, and of course, Lemon.

“I’m definitely going to talk to Cleo just to get to know him a little better,” he said. “I’m going to let him know I know about him and he’s going to be shocked.”
