Vancouver, BC - The BC Lions have called a news conference for noon (et) on Thursday, when it's expected that Dennis Skulsky, currently president and CEO of Canwest Limited Partnership, will be named president of the football team.

The Vancouver Sun reported the move Wednesday night.

Nearly a month ago, Skulsky announced his resignation at Canwest. The move was to be effective April 30, 2010, so he could spend more time with his family and pursue other opportunities closer to his home in British Columbia.

Skulsky was named president and CEO of Canwest in May 2006 after spending six years as president and publisher of the Pacific Newspaper Group. The Vancouver Sun is one of the newspapers in that group.
