Although Wally Buono seemed confident yesterday that Casey Printers should be ready to go this week, the quarterback himself wasn't as sure.

"I don't even know if I'm going to be able to play on Sunday, we'll see," said Printers at the B.C. Lions' practice facility in Surrey. "Right now we're just going to play it by ear and we'll be able to update you in the next couple days."

Printers injured his thumb after only three throws last Friday and missed the rest of the 45-13 loss to Edmonton.

It was first speculated that the QB, who hasn't even tried to grip a football yet since the injury, broke the finger but according to Buono, it was just a minor injury.

"The thing I was told [Sunday] is that Casey, his hands are much stronger, there was no fracture, there was only minimal damage and we're hoping that by tomorrow, he'll be able to function and throw the football," said the coach.

With the Lions traveling to Hamilton to play the Tiger-Cats in the Eastern semi-finals this Sunday, the team could also get QB Travis Lulay back as well.

"Last week I was close but I didn't get the clearance I needed," said Lulay, who injured his shoulder three weeks ago. "This week I'll be good to go."
