One step at a time for Printers

There won't be a Casey Printers sighting this Friday against the Stampeders.

The Lions' newest quarterback, who signed a practice roster contract with B.C. Monday, will not travel with the team to Calgary and it's not known when he'll play, says coach Wally Buono.

"Rushing anything is not fair and it's not the right thing to do," said Buono yesterday in Surrey. "It wasn't about bringing somebody here and putting him in a very unfair position, this club has never done that with anyone. We've always been very patient with our process of preparation."

Printers, who was sporting his former No. 1 jersey, was taking snaps and throwing passes yesterday at his first practice back with the Lions.

Afterwards, he wasn't at all concerned about when he'll play or where he ranks among the other quarterbacks.

"Whenever the time comes, it's when it comes," said Printers. "I'll do as the B.C. Lions need me. I'm just elated to be around this great group of guys and I'm happy that everyone has accepted me."

Meanwhile, both Ricky Foley and Korey Banks garnered CFL honours yesterday as Foley was named the Canadian Player of the Week while Banks picked up the Defensive Player award.
