The commissioner of the CFL is not worried that B.C.'s cash-strapped government is taking a second look at the B.C. Place Stadium retractable-roof project.
"We are committed to the Grey Cup, we're committed to Vancouver," Mark Cohon said yesterday.
Cohon awarded the 2011 Grey Cup game to Vancouver at a Feb. 27 news conference attended by Premier Gordon Campbell. Cohon said he wanted the B.C. Lions and owner David Braley to host a "signature event".
Work is underway to prepare the stadium for the new roof system. Tendering for the post-Olympic completion is delayed while the treasury board reviews the project, which could cost more than the budgeted $365 million.
