Six-foot-six, 315-pound Daren Heerspink's career revolves around lines. The Bellingham, Wash.-born offensive lineman, a former St. Louis Ram and Miami Dolphin, crosses the 49th parallel from Lynden to play for the Lions.

24: Talk about learning the Canadian game.

#61 DAREN HEERSPINK: "I had to learn the playbook pretty quickly and get into it. I'm getting to learn the intricacies of how things are different here and how you can use the rules to your advantage to win against your opponent."

24: What's life like in Lynden?

#61: "It's a small touristy Dutch town, if you build something new it's got to be Dutch-themed. It's a small town, not too many problems, but not too much excitement either. We don't have a theatre, so I've got to go to Bellingham."

24: Are your parents in farming?

#61: "We grew up in the dairy industry, I haven't spent much time on the farm lately. I had all the milk and ice cream growing up, which helped me growing."

24: Fellow OL Bobby Singh is also an ex-Ram and Portland State alumni.

#61: "We have little things to talk about, traditions from Portland State. He's been great, showing me the ropes. He's got the experience to go with it."
