The B.C. Lions held a tryout camp in Las Vegas yesterday and it's a good bet that head coach and general manager Wally Buono was eyeing potential replacements for receiver Josh Boden.

The budding 21-year-old star was in provincial court on Thursday facing charges of assault, theft and mischief under $5,000 after an April 12 Burnaby incident.

"This is a matter that is being examined closely by the club," Buono said in a prepared Friday statement. "But it is also a matter that is currently before the courts. As such, the club will not offer further comment at this time."

Carson Graham Secondary dropout Boden dominated B.C. Football Conference awards in 2005 after a stellar junior season with the South Fraser Rams. Boden was named most outstanding rookie, receiver, offensive player and special teams player and led a Canadian select team that won the NFL Global Junior Championship in 2006. He joined B.C.'s practice roster that year and dressed for all games in 2007.
