Easy practices now

No more "two-fers" in the Lions' den.

Until Sunday, that is.

The B.C. Lions train this afternoon in Abbotsford before tomorrow's walk-through to prepare for their only home exhibition game on Friday against the Saskatchewan Roughriders at B.C. Place Stadium. The Lions visit the Edmonton Eskimos on June 21 in their other preseason game.

The Lions have practised twice-daily since opening training camp on June 4, except Sunday, when soggy field conditions forced the cancellation of the morning session.

Friday's game will give head coach Wally Buono a chance to gauge fourth quarterback Shawn Bell. North Vancouver's Josh Boden, who spent last season on the practice roster, will have a chance to show why he deserves to replace Ryan Thelwell as B.C.'s other non-import wide receiver. Thelwell joined the Calgary Stampeders as a free agent.

The deadline for the Lions to submit their 46-man roster and seven-player practice squad to league headquarters is June 23.
