The Toronto Argonauts helped offensive tackle Rob Murphy remain a B.C. Lion.

The Canadian Football League's reigning most outstanding lineman agreed last week to return for a second season with the Grey Cup champions.

The Lions' head coach and general manager Wally Buono balked at Murphy's one-year, $150,000 asking price and allowed him to talk with other clubs. Murphy said yesterday that Buono restarted negotiations after Toronto's verbal offer for the 30-year-old.

The ex-National Football Leaguer said his two-year deal is worth $145,000 per year, plus bonuses.

Training camp begins June 3 in Abbotsford.
