B.C. Lions really brought home some magic from the Prairies.

The rain stopped and clouds parted when they showed off the Grey Cup at a noon-hour celebration yesterday at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

"The Cup is a thank-you to you guys for all your support," said head coach and general manager Wally Buono. "Let's enjoy it, let's work hard and in 2007 let's make sure we do this again."

Lions won their fifth Grey Cup Sunday in Winnipeg over the Montreal Alouettes.

"I've been through the bad times and the good times, the past, present," said defensive end Brent Johnson, the league's top Canadian and defensive player. "I can't wait to see what the future holds and I want you all to come along."

Johnson, backup quarterback Buck Pierce, wide receiver Paris Jackson and linebacker Javier Glatt were rewarded with contract extensions.

Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan proclaimed yesterday B.C. Lions day in Vancouver. The provincial government gives the Leos B.C.-wide recognition today.
