Barron Miles received a double honour from the Canadian Football League yesterday.

He was named defensive player of the week to end the regular season and joined nine teammates on the West division's all-star team.

Miles had an interception return and fumble return, two pass knockdowns and tackles in the Leos' win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The nine-year veteran's 10 interceptions led the league and were a career best.

Joining him in the all-star backfield are B.C. defensive backs Dante Marsh and Korey Banks. Linemen Brent Johnson, Tyrone Williams and Aaron Hunt and linebacker Otis Floyd complete the defensive citations.

Only two Lions were voted offensive all-stars: slotback Geroy Simon and left tackle Rob Murphy. Football Reports of Canada voting recognized four Edmonton Eskimos, including pivot Ricky Ray, despite the team finishing out of the playoffs.

Carl Kidd, meanwhile, made the special teams list.

League all-stars will be announced Nov. 7. The Lions host the Nov. 12 Scotiabank West Championship.
