Game over

IAN BUSBY -- Calgary Sun

, Last Updated: 10:45 AM ET

SUN THREE STARS:

1. Lions RB Joe Smith -- It appears the move to bench Antonio Warren paid off. Smith ran for a 66-yard score, caught a four-yard pass for a TD in the third quarter and capped it off with three-yard run for the major in the dying minutes.

2. Lions DB Dante Marsh -- Picked off a Henry Burris pass and, with blocks from Ryan Phillips and LaVar Glover, ran in from 63 yards for a touchdown, prompting the Stamps to go with Danny McManus the rest of the way.

3. Lions QB Dave Dickenson -- Was again cool and efficient outside of two picks and was able to eat the clock by putting together long drives.

WHY THE LIONS WON:

Quarterback Dave Dickenson efficiently ran his offence and took what the defence gave him. Instead of going deep into coverage, Dickenson used short pass to extend drives and keep his defence off the field. A interception for a touchdown by Dante Marsh and 66-yard run from Joe Smith helped nail down the win.

GREAT CATCH:

Probably the nicest grab of the night for the Stamps won't show up on the scoresheet. WR Brett Ralph stretched a yard and a half out of bounds to grab a Henry Burris bullet but didn't have enough room to get his feet in bounds.

HUGE HIT:

Stamps SB Nik Lewis is like a freight train when at full speed. Lewis caught a crossing route and smacked into Markeith Knowlton. The Lions defensive back took the brunt of the hit and wobbled off the field.

OOPS:

Stamps SB Jeremaine Copeland, who had gone four games without a touchdown reception, thought he had busted the drought in the first half. Copeland leaped to haul in a long pass from Henry Burris but Stamps OL Jeff Pilon was called for holding. Copeland went through his entire celebration before realizing the touchdown didn't count.

NOTABLES:

Stamps WR Ken-Yon Rambo left the game at halftime with an ankle injury after getting wrapped up and pushed over by two Lions defenders.

UP NEXT:

At Roughriders next Saturday, 8 p.m.
