It hasn't even been four months since the Lions lost their shot at Grey Cup glory, but head coach Wally Buono is already gearing up for the 2006 season.

"2005 had its ups and its downs. One of the things that we're trusted to do as coaches is to go out and find the things that went well and work on the things that need to be improved on," Buono said yesterday. "Between now and training camp there is a lot that needs to be done."

Buono announced the return of the 2005 coaching staff and fielded questions regarding the fate of offensive lineman Bobby Singh, who, as of last night, became a free agent.

"I am not confident that we can get it done before tonight," Buono said about re-signing Singh. "We want to pay Bobby fairly and according to his value on the team and his value compared to other players."

The Lions will also have to work within a salary cap that will come into effect in 2006.

"Everybody has the same parameters," Buono said. "What we want to do is to maintain a salary structure that's fair and consistent for the football club."
