History lesson

Since 1961, Winnipeg Blue Bombers have a 78-63-2 advantage over the Lions in regular season play.

Early birds

Saturday's game coincides with the Canucks' first meeting of the season with the Colorado Avalanche at General Motors Place. It's sure to create traffic chaos downtown.

Get your tickets in advance, arrive early for best parking selection and enjoy the pre-game tailgate party on Beatty Street. Better yet, take transit.

Another Dave

Winnipeg's new defensive backs' coach Dave Easley is the only coach in Canadian football history to win junior, university and pro championships.

His junior days were with east Vancouver's Renfrew Trojans. He outcoached Wally Buono's Montreal Junior Concordes in 1982's Canadian junior football championship. He was on staff of University of B.C.'s 1986 Vanier Cup championship squad and 1991's Grey Cup-winning Toronto Argonauts. Easley also lists coaching stints in Hamburg, Germany and Adelaide, Australia on his resume.

Don't pity the fool

Lions unveiled their edgy Be a Fan, Not a Fool campaign for the media Wednesday. Fans will see it for the first time Saturday. The no-nonsense messages star Jason Clermont and Tyrone Williams.

After two decades of men behaving badly at B.C. Place, one can only ask: What took so long?

Lions' president Bob Ackles said during his tenure in the NFL, the wildest fans - er, fools - he witnessed were in Philadelphia's Veterans Stadium. The problem was so bad, the stadium had its own in-house courtroom where offenders went before a judge.
