WIth no offensive players standing out so far this season, perhaps a defender could win the CFL's MOP award. Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive end John Chick could get consideration. (Reuterse)

The CFL season has reached its midway point with 41 of 81 games in the books, so there’s no better time to take a look at the mid-season award winners.

It’s been a bit of an odd campaign thus far, with penalty flags flying, offences struggling to put up the big numbers and the West Division absolutely dominating the East.

Top individual performances have been difficult to come by, but they are still out there. Here are our choices for the league’s six major individual awards at the midway point:

Most Outstanding Player

No quarterback, receiver or running back really had an eye-popping first half. Bodog put out its mid-season odds last week and listed Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell as the MOP favourite. Could this be the year a defensive player wins the award? As of now, Riders defensive end John Chick gets our vote, although he has been invisible for most of the last two games. Doesn’t anybody want to win this thing?
