There are so many topics, thoughts and questions to tackle this week, let’s get right to it:

• For starters, let’s give thanks that Labour Day weekend is here. Not for the eventual change in weather that’s coming and the return to school, of course, but for the unofficial start of the CFL season. Now it gets good. Sit back and enjoy.

• It’s old news because it happened a week ago, but it’s still big news: Commissioner Mark Cohon is stepping aside in April after eight years at the helm of the three-down loop. The move was somewhat surprising, considering he hadn’t dropped many hints he was about to leave, but committing to another four years in today’s day and age is a long time. The bottom line is that the league is better now than it was when Cohon got the job, and the new boss will have a solid foundation on which to build. It makes it a less important hire than eight years ago.

• The Hamilton stadium situation continues to add a bush league element to the last year of Cohon’s reign ...
