TORONTO - Karen Stintz’s mayoral campaign is over but her drive to be the next CFL commissioner is just beginning.

As the Toronto Sun reported Thursday, Stintz is willing to make a play for the top spot at the Canadian Football League.

Stintz — a football fan and Toronto Argonauts supporter — said if she got the call to be the new commissioner, she’d answer it.

If she was drafted into the job to replace outgoing commissioner Mark Cohon, Stintz said she’d be focused on helping get the Boatmen a new home in the city.

“I think it is really important that we get a home for the Argos and it has to be downtown — and I think it should be at BMO Field,” Stintz told the Sun on Friday. “First and foremost we need to get the Argos stabilized.

“I think the league is really important to the nation … it has a loyal following and it is expanding so it is a really exciting time for the CFL and it would be great to be part of that.”
